Theater wig and wardrobe professionals Junior Bergman (wardrobe supervisor, La Jolla Playhouse) and Anna Campbell (professional costumer; wig and wardrobe crew) demonstrate how to prep hair and customize a wig block to match the wearer’s head. With audience volunteers, the panel will show the process of making a head wrap from tracing to transfer, creating a true-to-size head block for a better-fitting wig for cosplay building and styling.

Randomly chosen audience members will audition with actual audiobook scripts and get feedback from major casting directors and audiobook coaches, including Scott Brick (Audible Hall of Fame narrator and coach, the Dune saga, Jurassic Park), Khai Dattoli (executive casting director, Podium Entertainment), Melanie Gagne (independent casting director and executive producer, Scholastic Audio), and Eric Jason Martin (author/producer/narrator, the New Arcadia series). The panel will include discussion about audiobook casting and performance, as well as audience Q&A. Moderated by Suzanne Elise Freeman (Audie Award-winning narrator, Five Nights at Freddy's).

Pop culture is full of cephalopod characters, from Squidward to Doc Ock, but how accurate is their anatomy? SS Julian (Octopolis), Danna Staaf, Ph.D. (Monarchs of the Sea, The Lady and the Octopus), and Kassandra Cruz (Puppy Knights) share the art of drawing octopods. The panel explores why cephalopods fascinate us, how to combine true anatomy with engaging character design, and practical techniques for committing these elusive invertebrates to ink while avoiding the abyss of artificially hallucinated reference material. Drawing supplies will be provided, but attendees may also bring their own.
All of the necessary supplies to participate in this Comic-Con How To session will be provided.

Cutter Hays demonstrates fast methods for achieving dynamic inks in a flashy, sped-up sumi style. Questions are taken throughout the demonstration, and subject suggestions may be incorporated as a challenge. These drawings are completed in one to five minutes, but the method can be developed as far as the artist wants to take it. For beginners, the technique can serve as a launching pad; for advanced artists, it offers another tool to add to the arsenal. The session also shows how traditional inking can be more approachable and fun than expected.
