Since movies first hit the big screen, audiences have always adored a swordsman, from Robin Hood, Zorro, and The Three Musketeers to the playful fencing fun in The Court Jester and The Princess Bride to the dazzling clashes of One Piece and the cinema-altering lightsaber battles in Star Wars. Today, the spotlight on fencing is growing again, particularly in the run-up to the 2028 Summer Olympics and the recent launch of the World Fencing League. Hollywood is getting in line, too: Several name actors have taken up the sport, including Wednesday's Jenna Ortega, and a new film is on the horizon: Content Republic's Fencer from writer/director Rob Edwards (Captain America: Brave New World, Disney's The Princess and the Frog, The King of Kings). Edwards, USA Fencing head Phil Andrews, Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickinson, actor Asher Grodman (Ghosts), Star Wars lightsaber stunt coordinator Nick Gillard (Wanted, Willow, Sleepy Hollow), actor/producer Rich Ting (Warrior, Tulsa King), Content Republic head of creative David Baxter (My Dead Friend Zoe), and special surprise guests spotlight the gentlemen's sport in film, give the inside scoop on Edwards' upcoming film, and maybe offer a little swordplay demonstration. Gary Miereanu moderates and gives away a few exclusive prizes for the best questions from the audience.
