S2.E15 To protect a space station with a vital grain shipment, Kirk and the crew must deal with Federation bureaucrats, a Klingon battle cruiser and a peddler who sells furry, purring, voracious little creatures called Tribbles. This episode was nominated for a Hugo Award for best Dramatic Presentation and was popular enough to receive a follow-up in the Animated series, and was the foundation for Deep Space Nine to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Trek with “Trials and Tribble-ations”. Tribbles are now a well known part of popular culture
