After 14-year-old delinquent Yusuke Urameshi sacrifices himself to save a little boy from a speeding car, he's given another chance to redeem himself and permanently returns back to his body by Koenma, the son of the ruler of the Spirit World. Yusuke temporarily wins his life back with some help from Keiko, the girl he secretly loves, and Botan, the pretty pilot of the River Styx. Koenma makes him a spirit detective assigned to track down and even punish the evil spirits prowling the human world. He later will get his rival Kuwabara, and the demons Kurama and Hiei, as his allies to help him out in his missions.
