James A. Owen (artist/writer, StarChild, The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica series), moderator Alex De Luca (writer/letterer, Dragon Whisperer, Enigmatown), Wendy Pini and Richard Pini (creators, ElfQuest), Maggie Thompson (senior editor, Comics Buyer's Guide; instigator of comic book fandom), and Jim Pascoe (writer/creative director, The Cottons Trilogy, Hellboy Animated) celebrate 40 years of James A. Owen at Comic-Con. Owen made his Comic-Con debut in 1986 at age 16 (the youngest exhibitor to that point), self-publishing his fantasy comic Pryderi Terra Book One: Awakening. In the early 1990s, he again self-published one of the early progenitors of the self-publishing wave of B&W comics, StarChild, which also debuted at Comic-Con. He later expanded into magazines, books, public speaking, and the New York Times bestselling YA fantasy series The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica. Photos and stories from the last 40 years of Owen's career highlight how it connects with this gathering, along with updates on a career-retrospective art book and a return to comics with new collaborative projects. The first 132 guests receive a copy of Pryderi Terra Book One: Awakening.
