About me
The first ongoing comics fanzines were published in 1961. That was 65 years ago—when Maggie and Don Thompson published the first issue of Comic Art. Five years later in New York City, they attended the first multi-day comics convention. In 1976—two decades after Comic Art #1—they attended their first San Diego Comic-Con with their kids, Valerie and Stephen, and received Inkpot Awards. In 1983, they became co-editors of Comics Buyer’s Guide and attended Comic-Con, as they wrote both for and about comics. Now, more than 30 years after Don’s death, Maggie Thompson shares Comic-Con fan fun annually. She was inducted into the Eisner Awards Hall of Fame in 2020 and currently serves as a judge on the Hall of Fame committee.
